KONY 2012 - MY TWO PENCE.

Well this is fun isn't it?
You know when you REEEEALLY wished you'd waited an extra week before you posted something???
A little public insanity and a bit of full frontal nudity can do wonders.... next time.

Anyhow - that's unfair. I've only seen the footage. Who knows what's going on.
If you haven't seen it - Google the piss out of it right now. Pretty nuts.

I've read countless arguments from both sides over the past few weeks and I've tried to do my own research as much as possible from the sources out there that I have faith in a little more.
There's a lot of "keyboard warriors" online at the moment who seem to be jumping on this.
I guess it's a good vehicle to latch onto to right now if you're trying to make a name for yourself.
Because you see, believe it or not, KONY 2012 is getting heat right now.... honest.

Annnnnnd.....
I've posted this a couple times before over that social media stuff but it's worth me pasting it again here.
It's just how I feel as of today.
My opinion may change depending on what other information/nudity/crystal meth addiction comes to light.

I stumbled upon the Grant Oyston article on Invisible Children before I watched (and, like EVERYBODY, posted the KONY video).
Granted, when you're looking at the statistics on paper and and are aware of the slightly dubious actions/decisions these guys have taken over the years, they do seem to have confused ethics (very) and are far from perfect.

If you really dig deep enough, however, you'll almost certainly find something to take issue with in ANY charitable organisation.

Yes they spend quite a fair slab of donations on materials they need, staffing and whatever (including some ridiculous (in)"action kits") but I guess that's to be expected with a campaign of such global magnitude. Personally, with regards to THIS campaign, I'm not too fussed about that.

The aim of KONY 2012 is surely to create awareness and to up the pressure for the guys "in charge" to arrest him.
Maybe?
We're talking about people who really couldn't give a shit unless it benefits them financially.
So fundamentally, despite the MANY and serious flaws the campaign has, I see this as a good thing - as the MTV-style blurb states, the majority of the world had no idea who Joseph Kony was up until this point.

So I have to disagree with the "something is not better than nothing" mentality. Sorry. Just an opinion.

I'm not saying peoples views aren't justified (they clearly VERY much are) but it's so easy to just sit there and be an online critic.
Just like me - irony punch.

I don't 100% support KONY 2012 and their actions.
Posing for photographs and supporting the guys with the big guns is pretty dumb and hypocritical.
Lets remember that in order to arrest Kony they're going to have to get to him - which involves getting through (ie: killing) potentially hundreds (more?) of dispensable "invisible Children" who'll be there acting as his bodyguards.
A sad moral dilemma to say the very least.

Invisible Childrean seem to have the whole social media thing DOWN and as, let's face it, most kids seem to exist on the internet these days it is THE place to quickly gain unprecedented support.
It might not be as dramatic as the KONY 2012 guys seem to hope but I reckon the more people that actually KNOW the better.

Raising awareness (on both sides of the coin) seems sensible to me.
Just question whatever you read. In case you hadn't noticed this one's pretty complex......

So here's a little "thing" I wrote.
Apologies it's a little rough around the edges - as usual, I recorded it pretty badly.
Please be aware I'm not trying to cause additional conflict online or upset anyone further on this - there's enough of that already.
It's just yet another opinion to add to this ever growing monster.
Come say "hi" on Fartbook if you like - free hugs.
